Dysons generously provided a $1,500 community grant to support our swimming program. This funding allowed us to purchase essential equipment, fostering confidence, skill development, and inclusion in the water for our participants. With this support, we have been able to create a more engaging and accessible environment for individuals of all abilities.
How the Grant Was Used
The grant was fully allocated to purchasing swimming equipment, significantly enhancing accessibility and engagement for our participants. Items purchased included buoyancy aids, pool noodles, kickboards, inflatable floaties, and adaptive support equipment, allowing for a more inclusive and supportive learning experience. These resources have helped participants develop vital swimming skills while feeling safe and supported in the water.
Impact & Success Stories
Participation in the swimming program increased from 8 to 10 individuals, allowing more people to benefit from structured swimming activities. One participant, Dani, previously struggled to enter the pool due to worn-out equipment. With the new resources, she now enters the water confidently, improving her overall well-being and happiness. These improvements not only support physical development but also enhance social confidence and emotional well-being.
Future Plans
Building on this success, we are committed to further expanding our swimming program. Additional funding will enable us to acquire more adaptive equipment, ensuring that individuals with higher support needs can fully participate and enjoy the benefits of swimming. By continuing to develop our programs, we aim to provide greater opportunities for skill development, fitness, and social inclusion.
Acknowledgements
A heartfelt thank you to Dysons for their generosity and commitment to improving the accessibility and quality of our swimming program. Their support has made a meaningful difference in the lives of our participants, empowering them to develop confidence and independence in the water.
